From Switzerland to Madrid for metal-free dentistry
When chronic infections and corroded metal restorations began to affect her whole-body health, Wendelyn looked beyond her own country for a genuinely biological approach. This is how her treatment with Dres. Castillo began.
How Wendelyn found us
Wendelyn came to us while researching biological, metal-free dentistry for a complex situation that conventional treatment had not resolved. From Switzerland, she submitted her case through our Second Opinion form, sharing her history, concerns and previous X-rays.
Over several consultations, Dres. Castillo reviewed her documentation in detail, explained exactly what they believed was happening, and outlined the treatment they proposed — together with a clear plan and budget — before she travelled. After taking the time she needed to feel confident, Wendelyn organised her trip and arrived at our Madrid clinic on 9 June 2026.
The challenge
Wendelyn arrived with multiple root-canal-treated teeth and several chronic infections originating from them. These long-standing infections were connected to a number of systemic health problems that had affected her wellbeing well beyond the mouth.
She also carried many metal-ceramic crowns on her natural teeth, and a pair of corroded titanium implants. Those implants had caused periodontal inflammation and, through a bridge that had been placed between an implant and a natural tooth, two root resorptions in the lower canines — an area that had been progressively damaged and left chronically inflamed.
The biological treatment plan
After studying her case, the plan Dres. Castillo agreed with Wendelyn was to address the root of the problem rather than its symptoms:
- Remove all the root-canal-treated teeth that were maintaining the chronic infection.
- Disinfect thoroughly with ozone therapy and clean every infected site.
- After the ozone, regenerate the tissue destroyed by the infection with autologous osteoinduction grafts — using the patient’s own bone.
- Remove every metal in the mouth that was driving hypersensitivity and the inflammatory reaction.
- Replace what was extracted with zirconia (metal-free) crowns and implants.
- Carry out a complete upper and lower rehabilitation.
This is a phased process, and Wendelyn is currently in the healing stage. The first stage has already produced very positive results — and, as she notes herself, what the team found during surgery confirmed exactly what they had explained beforehand.
In her own words
Wendelyn's review
“From my very first consultation, the team immediately identified the underlying problems that had been affecting my oral health. What impressed me most was that the findings during surgery fully confirmed what they had explained beforehand, giving me great confidence in their diagnostic skills and experience.”
“Throughout the process, both doctors demonstrated exceptional expertise and a clear understanding of what needed to be done. Despite the complexity of my case, they took the time to answer questions, explain options, and provide generous support between appointments, which was invaluable during a stressful period.”
“Although I am still in the healing phase, the results of the first stage of treatment have been very positive. My recovery is progressing well, and I am grateful for the professionalism, care, and attention I have received from the entire team.”
“I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone seeking experienced practitioners who combine technical excellence with genuine patient support.”
